Why Contract with Ivy Tutors

A review of almost 200 studies found that high-dosage tutoring is one of the few school-based interventions with demonstrated large positive effects on both math and reading. Ivy Tutors offers remedial tutoring or enrichment programs from 6 weeks to a full year. We work with schools to find the best format for their students, including 1-on-1 and small group tutoring, in the classroom, or out. K-12 Academic Tutoring
Drive student success through personalized, data-backed strategies. Ivy Tutors provides schools with one-on-one or small group tutoring aimed at helping students gain confidence in subject matter, learn to study, and acquire test-taking skills. Utilizing diagnostic testing, we identify students’ strengths and areas of need, providing necessary data for developing a customized test prep plan for each student or group. Our tutors are adept at addressing content gaps, and teach students test-taking strategies, time management, and tools to cope with test anxiety. Test-prep is our specialty. We can help students and schools with State or Regents exams, the SHSAT, ISEE, SSAT, TACHS, SAT, and ACT.
Data-Driven Test Prep
Help your upperclassmen build the best college application possible with workshops on passion-exploration, college list building, finding volunteer opportunities and internships, financial aid applications, and more. Our tutors can provide one-on-one or small group support for college application assistance to 11th and 12th grade students. Or take advantage of our college essay “boot camp” workshops - one of our most requested services by private clients - which immerses students in the essay-writing experience and teaches critical skills for a wow-worthy admissions essay.

Math & ELA Enrichment
These critical core subjects are some of the most likely to pose challenges to students, especially those with learning differences or English language learners. Our tutors teach foundational reading skills, fill in gaps in grammar, reading comprehension, or logical reasoning, and help with reading out-loud. For those needing extra support in math, tutors help with everything from math fundamentals to calculus. Whether the students in your school need support for core competencies or advanced mathematics and English, our tutors can help.
Math & ELA Enrichment
Our data-driven - yet personalized - approach leverages the best quality diagnostic and mock testing tools to provide a detailed analysis of every test taken and then help students improve upon their areas of weakness. Every year, we have students who achieve a perfect 1600 SAT or 36 ACT, while others break a 1400 or a 32, scores they previously thought were impossible. Many of our students go up by as many as 300 points on the SAT or 5 points on the ACT from prior tests.

Testimonials

Public School Principal, 2020
Our graduation rate increased 13.3% after one year of working with your team. We still have four more seniors to see through this summer, so that number is on its way up. WE DID IT!
Elementary School Parent, 2021
“All 4 of the tutors have gone above and beyond with helping my daughter as part of the program… They genuinely care about the kids, and their mental and physical state.”
Public School Principal, 2021
“After a 6-week SAT prep course, all but one student showed significant increases on the real exam! We had one student who gained 320 points!”

Types of School Support

In the Classroom

Inviting tutors into the classroom can make a large class size feel smaller or help students who are not grade level catch up faster. Tutors can help teachers create stations and/or walk around and help with assignment classwork once the initial lesson is complete.

Afterschool

Our after school programs range from drop-in tutoring and homework help to award-winning test prep programs to remedial math and reading to English for language learners programs (for both kids and their parents).

Pull-out

When passing rates or graduation rates drop due to varying levels in the classroom, some schools choose to pull kids out of harder classes so they can have the remedial support they need to catch up with the curriculum. This small group or one-to-one attention can make all the difference!

Saturday Academy

Our tutors are happy to run in-person Saturday academy classes, including Regents prep, SAT/ACT prep, SHSAT prep, and any other academic subjects. We prefer to work with student in small group of under 10 students or one-on-one.
