About the SHSAT

Our Story

Clocking in at 3 hours with 114 Math and English questions to complete, the SHSAT® is likely the longest exam an eighth grader has ever taken. Beginning in 2025, the SHSAT is a digital exam. And because 30,000 students take the test every year, but only about 6,000 are accepted to one of New York City's 9 specialized high schools, the exam is difficult by design.

Students tend to struggle most with reading comprehension and grammar questions in the English section, along with the time pressure of the Math section. Our personalized plans include test-taking strategies, targeted skill development, and a structured study plan for the time outside of sessions.

Over 80% of our SHSAT students report receiving an offer from a specialized high school — compared to the general 18% acceptance rate. SHSAT Boost is a monthly membership program that gives students access to 14+ live classes per month (3 per week) covering Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Math, and Hard Math. It also includes daily individual homework, timed digital practice tests with TEI questions, proprietary textbook and tutorials, proctored mock testing, and monthly high school admissions office hours.

Members get access to 14+ live classes every month, held 3 times per week, taught in a small group setting.

Students typically struggle most with reading comprehension and grammar in the English section, as well as the intense time pressure of the Math section. Our program is specifically designed to address these challenge areas through targeted skill development and proven test-taking strategies.

Yes! In addition to the group class, 1:1 private tutoring is available both online and in-person. Our Group Class + Online Tutor ($1,299/month) and Group Class + At Home Tutor ($1,499/month) plans include one hour of private tutoring per week on top of all group class benefits.

After joining, you'll receive login details for all platforms (Mathchops, IXL, and the mock test platform), along with access to your mentor onboarding and strategy meeting. You'll also get the Zoom class link, monthly class calendar, recordings of past sessions, training videos for each test section, practice materials, and additional study resources.

Most materials — including slides, practice sets, and explanation files — can be saved or downloaded for personal study use. Class recordings and video trainings are only accessible through the membership platform and cannot be saved offline. All materials are for personal use only and may not be shared or distributed.

Cancellations are best handled directly through your account portal. If you cancel outside the portal, a 10% processing fee applies. If a renewal has already been charged, a refund can be issued minus that fee.
