Zak grew up in NYC and began teaching while a student at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. He recently graduated from Cornell University, earning a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations at the ILR School (a.k.a: I Love to Read School) with a major in ILR and a minor in Education. While at Cornell, Zak gained experience working with students with diverse learning styles, doing fieldwork as a teacher in the Ithaca area. His strength as an educator, with more than 8 years working with children ages four to thirteen, is his ability to connect with students where they are and to make learning fun and engaging. Zak teaches young students to master their work, to gain confidence and pride in their abilities. He specializes in Language Arts, Literature, U.S. and European History, and Drama. He especially enjoys teaching elementary-school children how to get more comfortable with writing fiction and nonfiction. He also worked as a camp counselor for five- and six-year-olds, supervised an after-school program for first and second graders, prepped kids for a Spelling Bee, directed a drama club for high school students, and conducted acting and improv workshops. At Cornell, he was also an enthusiastic member of a sketch comedy group and has acted in films and voice-overs. Zak enjoys reading, especially about current events, watching nature shows, skiing, and performing stand-up comedy.

Zak is a huge Brooklyn Nets fan and loves watching NBA basketball.
