Grant’s success in AP courses and standardized test scores, including a perfect 36 on the ACT and 2300 on the SAT, earned him honors at the White House in 2016 as one of 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars by the Department of Education, and led him to be sought out as a tutor while still in high school. Graduating Columbia University, he has been accepted at Harvard Law School, starting in 2 years. He plans to focus on Environmental Law, a continuation of his major in Environmental Science at Columbia. Grant continues to research climate change at NASA and has interned in the Ecuadorian Amazon. In an endeavor that made national headlines, Grant co-wrote a proposal in which he successfully advocated for resources and space for LGBTQ+ students and students of color to put Columbia on par with its peer Ivy League schools. As a first-generation college student who attended public school K-12 in Missouri, Grant knows how difficult it can be to enter the elite world of secondary education. Without the guidance of those who served as his mentors, Grant could not have ended up where he is today. For that reason, he loves to help bright students achieve their full potential as a means of paying back the efforts of those who assisted him in the college admissions process. Grant’s skillset makes him particularly prepared to tutor STEM, and he is most passionate about earth and environmental science as a way to pique his generation’s interest in sustainability. In his free time, Grant enjoys practicing hyperrealistic and surrealistic portraiture.

An avid Lorde fan, Grant gave the songstress a portrait he made of her and a KC “Royals” cake (which she then posted on Instagram) when he met her in Kansas City in 2014.
