A cum laude graduate of Yale University, Alex is a professional composer and music director in the NY theatre scene. At Yale, he wrote three musicals and toured the world with the Whiffenpoofs, Yale's all-senior a cappella group (and the oldest a cappella group in the country), for which he managed trips to Israel, Kenya, Zanzibar and Cape Town. Alex works as a teaching artist for Disney Musicals in Schools, an arts education initiative sponsored by Disney Theatrical Group, which jumpstarts theatre programs in low-income elementary schools. He excels at breaking down complex musical concepts for elementary and middle school students, and his focus on rhyme, meter and storytelling enhances student literacy and language arts skills. In high school, Alex received the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, with three years of biology under his belt, including biotechnology. He's currently writing musicals as varied as a Game of Thrones prequel and a satire of Gwyneth Paltrow's wellness company GOOP. In his spare time Alex loves crossword puzzles, Thai takeout, and helping his students succeed.

In fifth grade, Alex won the Boys 50 yard breaststroke event at the New Jersey Swimming 10 & Under State Championships, becoming (for a time) the fastest ten-year-old breaststroke swimmer in NJ.
