Wilson Waddill

Wilson, a Virginia native, has been teaching for five years since graduating Davidson College with a BA in Music and a concentration in pre-medicine. His pre-med training prepared him to teach a variety of maths and sciences; his favorite is chemistry. He substitute teaches at Grace Church School, ranging from junior kindergarten through 8th grade in a wide variety of subjects. He also tutors English as a Second Language to bilingual Chinese online. As this remote computer mode limits interpersonal expression, he has honed clear verbal communication skills, first developed while instructing scuba diving in Key Largo. He coached new divers through their first breaths underwater, where verbal communication is impossible. In the aural communication mode, Wilson, a long-time guitar teacher, instructs students of all ages and abilities in multiple musical styles.

As a boy, he dreamed of becoming a naturalist. In nearby woods, ponds and streams he caught salamanders, skinks, geckos, lizards, snakes, turtles and frogs, which he raised in terrariums built with his father. His bedroom looked like a pet store. And, with the nighttime chirping of tree frogs, it sounded like one, too!
