Hailing from the wilds of western Connecticut, Ian Winthrop has been in the trenches teaching as an assistant at Columbia and tutoring aspiring Ivies since 2013. After graduating from Phillips Exeter in 2008, Ian attended Columbia University where he majored in neurobiology, was captain of the heavyweight rowing team and a teaching assistant for the college and AP highschool level biology courses. Ian also has experience preparing students for the SAT, ACT as well as helping them hone their skills in math and science courses including algebra, statistics, chemistry, biology and physics. After college, seeking to utilize his knowledge in the biological sciences, Ian entered the world of clinical research at Weill Cornell in 2012 managing trials exploring cures for Acute Myeloid Leukemia and is now Program Manager at Weill Cornell Medical College. Outside of aiding your child’s escape from nonage, Ian busies himself with postbacc classes in cancer biology, genetics and human immunology as well as Ultramarathon Training, volunteer coaching, his roof top garden, and his closet brewery.
